The difference between hot filling and cold filling beverages

Let's talk about the difference between hot filling and cold filling beverages

1、 What is hot filling?

Hot filling is the process of sterilizing products at high temperatures and filling them into bottles at around 90 degrees Celsius. After screwing the lid, the bottle and lid are sterilized using the temperature of the material itself. This way, the product remains in a high temperature state for a long time, causing more damage to its taste and nutrition. High temperature filled PET beverage bottles usually use a 38 caliber or crystalline bottle neck. And the bottle design needs to meet conditions such as high temperature shrinkage resistance and vacuum resistance.

2、 What is medium temperature filling?

Beverages such as fruit juice and tea filled at medium temperatures need to be sterilized at temperatures around 60-75 degrees Celsius, and auxiliary sterilizing substances such as preservatives need to be added.

3、 What is aseptic cold filling?

Aseptic cold filling is the process of sterilizing products at ultra-high temperatures and cooling them to room temperature. In a artificially created sterile environment, the products are filled into bottles or paper boxes that have been sterilized with hydrogen peroxide, and the bottle caps are also sterilized and tightened with hydrogen peroxide. Cold filling has a relatively small impact on the taste and nutritional quality of the product, and uses less PET material, but the equipment investment is about twice as much as that of hot filling. Aseptic cold filling is the process of sterilizing concentrated fruit juice and jam, cooling them, and pouring them into a container with a shelf life of over one year.

1. Due to the higher production efficiency of aseptic cold filling compared to hot filling, aseptic cold filling is filled at room temperature of 25 degrees, while hot filling is filled at 95 degrees. Hot filling maintains high temperature for a long time to sterilize, affecting product taste and vitamin loss.

2. The production difficulty hot filling PET bottles is higher than that of PET bottles filled at room temperature and sterile filling, therefore, sterile filling has gradually surpassed the application of high-temperature filling production technology.
